In Memory Of Dafiq Rasheed
Dafiq, or Fiq as his family and loved ones called him, was an amazing Son, brother, cousin, nephew, friend, and community leader. In his 19 years on this earth he made a huge impact wherever he stepped foot at. Whether it was elementary school, high school, college, or in his community, his presence was felt and he left his mark on everyone around him. He was a leader at heart. Growing up in a rough community and coming from humble beginnings, he always saw the positive side of things. He saw the best in people. He loved his community and wanted to see everyone do better and want more for themselves. Fiq wasn’t afraid to voice it either. Things that seemed small to everyone else, he saw as a huge deal and he didn’t hesitate to address it. No youth programs being funded in the city? Don’t worry, Fiq was on it. He wouldn’t mind speaking up on these types of issues even if he knew that things might not change right away. He was always optimistic in that way and with me as his younger brother being 3 years younger than him, I didn’t always understand it.Fiq took pride in thriving to get people fair opportunities and made sure that he took advantage of all that the city, the school system, and the community had to offer. He didn’t let his age define his effort and impact. He had huge dreams and aspirations and all of them involved helping his family & building up his community. He touched so many lives in a positive way and didn’t care about going against the negative stigmas or status quo that came with growing up in our community. He was perfectly fine with being different and standing out. Dafiq stood out and was popular for the right reasons everywhere he went. Whether it was at Uptown Complex, Atlantic City High School, or Morgan State, he left his mark on the schools and the people around him. He was easy to follow, easy to connect with, and easy to love. He had that it factor about him that made it easy for people to look up to and gravitate towards. The sky was the limit for him.
Our Service
Things We Are Doing
We want to offer scholarships for both higher education and trade schools. We would also like to offer a “big brother” style mentorship program where we help out the youth in need in all aspects of life. (School, home life, extracurricular activities, and social life) our desire is to not only offer money and resources, but formal training and life coaching to help build and guide youth of tomorrow into becoming standout pillars in their communities, as well as their school and overall lives. We want to offer help in areas of financial literacy as well that come with credit credit building, money management, etc. We also want to offer Sports Training, coaching, and consulting to those who have aspirations of playing sports both on the high school or collegiate level. We have a number of professionals that come from multiple different backgrounds who can help lead where they are needed.
We are looking to target the youth, preferably high school age students. Ages ranging from 14-18. Most high school age youth are easily impressionable and are a few decisions away from their lives moving in the right direction towards success or the complete opposite. We want to have an impact on those decisions with our resources that we can offer.
